Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has urged members of Kengema Unity Forum to keep faith with his administration saying he will not renege on any promise of his administration to the people of Kalabari kingdom and the state at large.
Governor Wike who stated this when he received endorsement from the group as its sole governorship candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections, appealed to the KUF to ignore rumours from some quarters aimed at causing distractions, while assuring them that they will not regret giving their support to the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
On his part, leader of Kengema Unity Forum, Sobomabo Jackrich popularly known as Egberi Papa said his decision to lead members of the group in their thousands to honour the invitation of Governor Wike and to endorse him for second term in office is to ensure total development of Kalabari kingdom and the entire state.
Egberi Papa equally reiterated the position of the governor that members of the KUF should desist from rumours aimed at distracting them from achieving their goals, while expressing optimism that at the end of the tenure of the governor, there would have been a total transformation of the entire state.
Also speaking with our correspondent, the legal adviser of KUF, Tubotamuno Dick said the group's support to the second term bid of governor Wike will equally earn the support of the governor for a Kalabari governor in 2023.
Similarly, an official of the group and member of the Buguma Council of Chiefs, Lavinda Long-John said the large presence of members of the KUF at the Government House was indicative that the group leads the grassroots the entire Kalabari kingdom.
Our correspondent reports that Egberi Papa led about ten thousand members of the KUF on a procession from the Isaac Boro Park to the State House
